- Concrete trading adviceWith Trend Following Covel nails the alternative to buy and hold. This is several books worth of concrete trading information, performance data and practical instructive advice in a single volume. Here's a sample: "It seems a bit rigid to say you can't even use just a little discretion when faced with a trading decision, doesn't it? After all, where's the 'fun' if all you ever do is follow a mechanical model? But then Trend Following isn't about fun. It's about winning."
Realistic advice that I've been waiting for a long time.
Rating:
- Trend Trading Eye OpenerThere are not many books in the investing field that stay level-headed - many promise the world. Covel's Trend Following avoids predictions and false hopes. It is a down to earth read that lifts the curtain on trend following traders. Van Tharp offered a review of Trend Following and I agree completely with him:
"I think the book did a superb job of covering the philosophy and thinking behind trend following (basically why it works). You might call it the Market Wizards of Trend Following."
Van K. Tharp, Ph.D.
Rating:
- Immensely readable; No wild promisesImmensely readable, topics are presented in a straightforward and easy-to-understand style. The book shows that trading is a mental game - the real secret if there ever was one. But enough of my idle chatter, it's well worth your time.
Rating:
- Just read itEvery few years the geniuses is the financial press tell us that trend following is dead. In the late 1990's everyone swore that trend following was over, mind you in the midst of the largest bull TREND for Wall Street in years. This book brings clarity to a largely un-told subject. There are traders who silently profit over periods of time.
I found the chapter on Holy Grails particularly important. Buy and hold was finally tackled! Another key element in the book is absolute returns. Why compare your trading to the averages of Wall Street. Your return is your return.

- 100% Read Now BookI enjoyed Covel's style. Perhaps a little cocky, but he backs his comments with big time proof. As a trader for 20+ years, I found this book a real gem.
