Rating: - Tired of the games?
Why should you read this book? Is the book worth the time and effort? The book layed the foundation for my trading career. Brick by brick and chapter by chapter the author supported why trading as a trend follower is so important. Examples of the successes of current trend followers are peppered through the book.

Does the author give you the secrets to trading? No. Are there any secrets to trading? No. Buy if the price is going up and sell short if the price is going down. Is it that simple? Yes. The author goes out of his way to show example upon example of successful trend traders. These traders are not Wall Street names. They do however, beat the S&P on average year after year, and do so very quietly.

What does it take to be successful? How can I be successful? Simple, find someone who has what you want and then model their behavior. Find a mentor. If you want to make money in the markets then model the behaviour of those who are successful. Granted most of these traders would not take you under their wing, so buy the book and let it serve as your focus. Their behavior is thoroughly outlined through the pages.

People with nothing to say always talk the loudest. In trading the ones who have nothing yell.

Rating: - Exact method with computer code included
A complete treatise on this little-known investment discipline. There is an exact description of a trend following method in this book. The statement to the contrary made by one reviewer is just not accurate. There is even the computer code ! That with historical performance data on some of the better-known money managers makes this an inspiring read for investors and serious traders.

Reading this book is like discovering electricity. It will blow your mind to see how many professionals, most who you've never heard of, are trading as trend followers - AND MAKING A TON OF MONEY. If you want something to inspire you to trade the correct way then read this book. If your looking for the "BIG SECRET" of trading buy it too. You will learn there is no BIG SECRET or secret club of traders who have a special indicator. Whether your rational enough to take this to heart is your problem.

Forget the hype, this book has none. Down to earth trading insights about a stratgey largely unknown. There must be more than a few brokers on Wall Street not liking this open and honest message! Cheers!

Rating: - Trend Following Marketing
After reading the reviews on this site, I bought Trend Following: HOW Great Traders Make Millions... I couldn't have been more disappointed after reading this highly touted book.

It is virtually contentless on insights about HOW great traders perform their craft or insights into what makes them successful -- other than "you can't predict the markets". Instead, it shows equity curves of trend followers vs Major Averages to convince people that trend following is superior to other methods of trading the markets. The examples from traders are often drawn from public events or writings packaged to look like original research material.

I am a believer in the value of trend following. This book added absolutely nothing to my understanding of the craft -- even something as fundamental as how to recognize a trend when you see one. You will be much better served by reading Market Wizards than this drivel. You already know the most valuable content of the book by reading the Title: Trend Following is how great traders make money in up or down markets. Don't expect anything more substantive from the rest of this book.
