Product Description:
Want to build a killer Web site? Want to make it easy to keep your site up to date? You'll need to know how CSS, HTML, and XHTML work together. HTML, XHTML, and CSS All-In-One Desk Reference For Dummies makes that easy too! These eight minibooks get you started, explain standards, and help you connect all the dots to create sites with pizzazz.
This handy, one-stop guide catches you up on XHTML basics and CSS fundamentals. You'll learn how to work with Positionable CSS to create floating elements, margins, and multi-column layouts, and you'll get up to speed on client-side programming with JavaScript. You'll also get the low-down on server side programming with PHP, creating a database with MySQL, and using Ajax on both client and server sides. You'll find out how to:
- Use templates and validators
- Manage information with lists and tables
- Turn lists of links into button bars
- Add style color and borders
- Create variables for data
- Add motion with basic DOM animation
- Work with arrays
- Add Flash functionality with AFLAX
- Build and manage a multipage site
- Choose and run your own server
You don't need expensive or complicated software or a super-powerful computer to build a Web site that does all sorts of amazing things. All you need is a text editor and the clear, step-by-step guidance you'll find in HTML, XHTML, and CSS All-In-One Desk Reference For Dummies.

- This is the Best Beginner's Book If you've never programmed before and want to get a solid web technologies background I think this is the best choice for you (and me) I Found this book very easy to follow and the best of it is the fact that everything you see in the book could be applied using open source technologies, the author give you some clues on what tools to use for authoring your projects (like aptana); while digging into this book I found quanta+ the best tool for developing xhtml, css and javascript (but is not mentioned ... - Outstanding! This is, hands down, the best reference on web design I've ever owned. It is timely, extremely knowledgeable, thorough, and easy to follow. How often can a geek explain his processes clearly? This guy does just that with fine style.

- Perfect for Web DevelopersI love the "For Dummies" books and whenever I need to get a reference guide, I always look first for one of these. Great book for those web developers out there looking for a, just as the title says, "Reference Guide". I wouldn't particularly recommend this product if you are looking to create your own website, but it is perfect for when you are looking for a certain way do to something, and just can't quite put your finger on how to do it. Overall, expect a reference guide, not a tutorial on web design.

- AWESOMEIt is difficult to find one book that takes you from nothing to standards-compliant web sites. It's even more difficult to find books that don't recommend paying insane amounts of money for programs like Dreamweaver. The author provides lots of alternative choices to the big name software and uses this software throughout his examples. I am very grateful that I picked up this book and think that I could probably actually start a web design business after reading it. A million thank-yous to the authors!

- A Great BookI can finally clean my desk and throw everything away. Except for this book. It contains all the info I need - well organised and well explained. Finally I will stop collecting pieces and bites from different sources. Many thanks to Andy and Chris :) Great Job!
